Singaporean Identity – The Next 50 Years
The events in Sydney late last year reminded me of both the negative and positive sides of diversity. The negative side was powerfully demonstrated in how religious identity, in this case lone gunman Man Haron Monis' twisted form of Islam, was cited as part of his motivation for violence. The positive side lies in the groundswell of public response to the event, including how groups of Australians, from all manner of religious, racial and other backgrounds, bonded and banded together through movements, both physical and online.
